Full Professor of Social Psychology (11/99) and Director of the Department of Social Psychology (10/13), University of Seville. Outstanding BSc in Psychology Award (1982) and PhD in Psychology (11/85), his areas of expertise are Occupational Health Psychology (Advanced Technician in Occupational Health and Safety: Specialties in Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology, 10/05; Industrial Hygiene, 05/06; and Occupational Safety, 10/2006), and Social Psychology. In particular, he focuses on both Social Learning Theory, as a model that underlies training in social and communication skills, and the malleability of biological responses due to the action of social factors.
He has recently participated in the following competitive R&D Projects: ‘Advanced statistical analysis to measure and prevent bullying and cyber-bullying at work’; ‘Efficacy of a self-regulation intervention to improve health and presenteeism/absenteeism behaviours based on e-health and gamification’; and ‘Longitudinal and experimental study on the effectiveness of a training to improve adaptation to breast cancer and prognosis of the disease’. He has also been responsible of research contracts with public and private entities, such as: Servicios del Sur, S.A. (‘Productivity and well-being in Industry 4.0’), VEIASA (‘Analysis of the socio-occupational climate and evaluation of psychosocial risks’) and AFOBAN S.L. (‘Elaboration, evaluation and dissemination of a website with didactic resources on occupational risk prevention’).
His research results have been published in high impact journals such as British Medical Journal, Pain,European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, Psicothema, and Annals of Psychology.
